Completed after a year of work, the plan represents a new vision for public art that is selected and administered by the Port of San Diego. Additionally, the plan defines a new, innovative strategy that strengthens the mission of the Port’s Public Art Department and ensures a collection of artworks that are recognized regionally and nationally for their excellence and creativity.
“It is a vital and exciting plan that reflects the Port’s character and the special nature of the tidelands as a place,” said Yvonne Wise, the Port’s Public Art Director. “It lays out both a long-term vision for public art and practical steps to achieve that vision.”
