Arts, Equity and Infrastructure

muraLAB is back!

Next week, July 19, Philadelphia Mural Arts will be hosting two very special guests who are leading the arts components of two of the nation’s most important public realm initiatives.

Miranda Kyle, Arts Coordinator, Atlanta Belt Line

Irfana Jetha Noorani, deputy director, Washington, DC’s 11th Street Bridge Park

We’ll be looking at the question of, as cities reinvest in their open spaces and infrastructure, what are the equity issues involved, and how can art programming be pursued in an equitable way, and support broader goals of equity and inclusion for the overall project?

Please join us for a public conversation, 6 pm, July 19, at the Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch Street. The discussion will be moderated by Pamela Bridgeforth, Philadelphia Association of Community Development Corporations, which recently issued its own publication on arts, equity and community development.
